That was the theme song to one of the funniest sitcoms in the 90s but now its 2009 and boy how have times changed, women are no longer bare foot and pregnant and men aren't the only ones bringing home the bacon.... But my question is NOW THAT TIMES HAVE CHANGED DO PEOPLE STILL LOVE JUST FOR LOVE
In a recent conversation with a girlfriend of mine she stated that "All Men Cheat", and she would rather have a wealthy husband who cheated as opposed to a broke man who cheated. The scariest part of that conversation for me was that I agreed with her. Its weird because I wonder "WHEN DO WOMEN STOP SETTLING" or is that just apart of the deal. What is even more scary is the women who don't settle are often the ones that get labeled. In an recent episode of Real Housewives of Orange County Vicki and tried to convince Gretchen that she should talk to her sickly fiance about what would be left to her in his will. Now I was totally appalled by the fact that these women thought it was even remotely right to ask a man on his death bed about money. But lets look at the flip side, she's living in his house, not working because she is caring for him and God Forbid he passes and leaves everything to his children whom of which she is not the mother of she is left with nothing. So should she settle or boss up and tell homie "LOOK I KNOW YOUR DYING AND ALL BUT PLEASE LEAVE MOST OF YOUR ASSETS TO ME.
So Does Love and Marriage still go hand and hand or is Marriage more of a business arrangement these days...

WOWWW LOLL WOWWW YOU KNOW WHATS DEEP ABOUT THIS TOPIC IS THAT I WAS JUST HAVING A CONVO ANOUT LOVE WITH MY HOME GURL. YES EVERY DUDE WANTS TO GE MARRIED AND YES LOVE IS STILL AROUND. ( O YEAH RING SHOPPING IS THE SHIT).. I WANTED TO HEAR YOUR TAKE ON THE PERFECT RING AND WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO DO A BLOG ON WEDDING RINGS BECAUSE THESE PAST TWO MONTHS I LEARNED SO MUCH. I love this topic! This is like an everyday discussion for me. Well from my point of view, I would never want to be a woman who is completely dependant on a man, I believe in having my own and joining my husband to grow our wealth, however the dating scene is whack and can be discouraging so marrying for wealth is crazy appealing. Truthfully I cannot see myself making a committment as sacred as marriage to someone that I did not genuinely love. Having love in addition to the business aspect of the relationship is a great combination, but let's be serious those come a dime a dozen! This is a real catch 22 type situation. I absolutely refuse to settle so I guess I would much rather live in a house on a hill with my cheating rich husband than with my broke cheating husband. So when it all boils down even though I can't see myself marrying for wealth, desperate times call for desperate measures.
As for the woman whose husband is dying; as uncomfortable as death may be to discuss, it's inevitable. She should mention it, if that's her husband he should want to know that when he's gone she will be okay.
Question: Am I naive for thinking that there are actually some men that do not cheat?

Ms. K, there are various forms of cheating, your man having dinner with a woman that he is attracted to and you not knowing about it but NOT engaging in sexual activities with this woman is still a form of cheating. Its scary because I want to believe that there are good men out there that are committed and wont cheat but at the end of the day its so rare that you come across a man like that, its an out of sight out of mind kinda thing... whats funny is that you said you refuse to settle but you would take the rich husband who cheats which in reality is a form of settling OMG how about I cheat, i bring home the bacon, he cheats, he brings home the bacon, we all cheat and we all bring home the bacon its 50/50... That way he can never say "You wont leave because you NEED me" MAYBE WILL AND JADA HAVE IT ALL FIGURED OUT OPENLY SWINGING RELATIONSHIPS MAKE THE MARRIAGE LAST LONGER LOL
Oh wow so funny that you touched on that topic...my friends and i post watching the episode went into a deep discussion about it which lead into the quality of marriage these days...the room was divided on Gretchen decision..but my stands was that every woman should protect themselves at the end of the day...to keep it short i am witnessing the marriages of my parents generation and are hearing conversations about intelligent women who are stuck in unhappy marriages because they cant support their children or themselves alone...Gretchen must ask, due to the fact this man put her life on hold. She didn't run after him and to make s decision for someones life like that comes with a price $. Lets just say...before i say "i do" i will either be very secure with my own such as vikie...or be as tamra and lay for the best... i will not be caught in any catch 22
I agree lady though I dont believe I will ever associate myself with the likes of Vicki yes she has her own but it is habit for her to constantly let ppl know that shes working and thats shes accomplished and that can become annoying. If Gretchen wanted to know where she stood in this situation asking before he went into the hospital would have been so much better... Remember MIllion Dollar Baby...
