Good for Lunch or for Dinner...

So I love shrimp and I love Cesar salad so I deiceded to combine the two and make this dish at home on my own. After seasoning my shrimp, I smothered the shrimp in Cesar dressing and let them cook on a low fire. When the shrimp were done I added them in a bowl with my Romain lettuce, Instead of adding more dressing I used all of the dressing from the pan with the shrimp and stirred. Dressing can add alot of calories to your meal so its best to make a large bowl of salad and apply the dressing instead of adding dressing per serving... LOVED THE SHRIMP CESAR SALAD...

Movie Review: Madea goes to jail...

This past weekend my parents treated my siblings and I to see the newly released Tyler Perry film MADEA GOES TO JAIL, this highly anticipated film sent us to theaters at 12noon to purchase tickets for the 8pm screening. When my family and I arrived there were no seats left, the entire house was packed with the exception of the first row. As my mom, dad, two brothers, their girlfriends, my youngest sister and cousin took our seats we were the last guest to make the theater jammed pack... Finally the movie can begin. I love the fact that Tyler Perry has followed in the foot steps of Spike Lee by using the same actors in his project. Most of the cast was reoccurring had it been on one of his hit television shows, or his stage plays or another film we had seen most of the actors before. The movie was split into two story lines and while the story line of Madea going to jail was funny, it was certainly less entertaining than the love sequence... It was great to see Derek Luke yet again doing a phenomenal job in another film, and Keisha Knight Pulliams performance was simply short of perfection it saddens me to see that Keisha made her claim to fame as Rudy Huxtable and now she cant break out of it... Overall I would give the film an 8, and still I recommend that we all go out and support it and not wait for it to come on bootleg lol...

Eliminating the Carbs

Since I have started my diet I am basically cutting back on things that I love the most that are not necessary great for me... One of the many things I love is bread... So I came up with a lunch that includes meat, cheese and lettuce but no bread a turkey and cheese lettuce wrap... Dieting doesn't have to be too much to bare just a slight cut back from your regular intake and some working out in your home or in the gym...

I think this pair can continue to paint the town red for years to come, if they choose too. Kanye West makes a statement without saying a word and I think he needs a strong women by his side who can do the same. The pair went from shows to clubs through out this fashion week and I must say I enjoyed watching them... Plus Amber is working the hell out of those RED pants I will be making a purchase of those very same pants this week...

Pissed

I was pissed that TMZ leaked the photo of Rhianna's bruised and battered face to the Public, when the altercation between the two stars occurred many ppl asked why I hadn't blogged about it and the one thing I could say was, HOW CAN YOU COMMENT ON SOMETHING WHEN I DO NOT KNOW THE FULL DETAILS. I refuse to put out a post of speculations. What I do realize is that domestic violence is extremely prevalent today, people fall in love, they fight, they make up, and they love again. And while I don't condone this type of UNHEALTHY AND QUITE CHILDISH behavior. I do understand that domestic violence is just a mere fact of life. But I do feel that during this trying time the pair deserve their privacy, and it broke my heart to see this photo released because little girls who look up to her, will remember this image forever. Did TMZ stop to think that Rhianna may actually still love this boy and may actually get back with him. Lets remember yes she is a role model but her commitment is not to the public its to herself. But what if they do get back together will little girls around the world who adore her and viewed that picture think its OK to stay with a man who physically abuses them, GOOD QUESTION HOW ABOUT YOU PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT TMZ...

The last Supper

My girlfriend Anya took me to dinner for my "last supper" before I start my diet. She decided that we would go somewhere close to home that the food would be great and served fast... We went Downtown Brooklyn to a small place called THE SMOKE JOINT... The Smoke Joint is located on Fulton Street not too far from the landmark BAM, BROOKLYN ACADEMY OF MUSIC... We parked the car and walked around the block as we turned the corner I could smell the BBQ food, I felt like it was the Fourth of July. My mouth watered as I watched a waiter walk pass me with a plate of spare ribs. I thought to myself, oh yeah that's just what I'm gonna get...

We requested seats near the window as we reviewed the menu, I noticed something that my late grandmother use to cook chopped BBQ so I went ahead and I ordered that instead...

Anya ordered the cat fish

Overall I would give the Smoke Joint an 8, I had to take one point away for the limited wine selection and another point away for the collard greens they just were not like my grandmothers cooking...

ALL ACCESS PASS...

I had the pleasure of attending the Baby Phat Fashion Week Fashion Show, and I must admit it was certainly amazing. There is something that I love about the industry, I'm not sure if its the lights, the cameras, the red carpets or the C list celebs who refuse to sit in the second row LOL... When my sister Shyah (Public Relations for Baby Phat) asked me to work their fashion week event I was certainly eager. I was asked to escort front row celebs to their seats. When the doors opened the first celebs that I had to seat were Ice T and his wife COCO (that is his wife right) but as the B/C list celebs began to arrive that's where I ran into my problem. WHO THE HELL SAT TEYANA TAYLOR AND HER MOM IN THE SECOND ROW, is what her manager wanted to know. and Chrisette Michelle kindly refused to sit down until her front row seat was available. Trust me at a larger venue all of these guest would have been granted front row seating but this year Kimora did the appropriate thing and opted for an economy friendly venue. At any rate the guest all got the seats they wanted the lights dimmed and the show began. I was pleased by the fashion that came down the run way it was sheer fabolousity. I also loved the fact the diggy, Russels nephew was seated with Djimon Kimoras new man and soon to be baby daddy. As the show ended we watched Kimora and her girls work the run way and all I can say is Aoki is a star in her own right. At the end of the night Sam and I took a few pics with the celebs we adored the most... Overall the event was a success...

Me personally I was never a fan of wearing my boyfriend P.J.s to class, nor his over sized tee shirt. Class for me always meant a new start, a whole new day and another chance at success, so I made sure that my gear was in tact, my hair was done and my lip gloss was popping... Its Not All About You

In my last post I gave the brothers a few tips on how to make Valentines Day special, so I guess its only right I give the ladies a pep talk... I know that Valentines Day is all about pink and red and chocolates and teddy bears, but just as much as we like to feel special our partner does too. Ladies everyday should be Valentines Day NO MAN wants a woman who is totally dependent on him. Even if you dont have major bucks for a Rolex watch or a plasma screen T.V. do simple things, MEN love to know they are appreciated... Its time we pay attention to what Usher said and TRADE PLACES. This Valentines day be more of a giver than a reciever.
Ask him could you take him to dinner for Valentines Day...
Take him to his favorite spot...
Ask him if you can order for him...
Show him that you know him well order what he loves to eat...
Pick up the tab and only if he offers let him provide the tip...
After dinner cater to him...
Show him the sexy piece you purchased to wear just for him...
If there is one thing that he has been asking you to do but you haven't done it yet DO IT...
When he awakes in the morning leave him a thank you note, express how much the night meant for you, from watching him eat, to his smell, to his touch the more details you give the more reminders he will have about the previous night...

OMG FELLA'S, FELLA'S, FELLA'S Dont let this be your lady, here are some very helpful tips on how to make this Valentines Day a special one...

Pamper your lady...
Spa Treatments are always needed
Manis, Pedis, Facials, Massages (you know, the basics...)
Now If you would like to be in attendance to share this special occasion I recommend you and your lady travel to THE SPA CASTLE in Queens N.Y. The atmosphere is amazing... Some men feel like the spa is a total waste of time and if that's the case then hit up the Ajune Day Spa on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and get your lady a gift certificate...

Lets Eat...
Gents lets not be afraid to get in the kitchen, go the extra mile, I'm talking down to the white table cloth and the candles. Cook up a meal, if you cant make her favorite meal go for what you know best. Either way its all about the effort and she will appreciate it... Now if the kitchen is something you are totally against then I say select a NEW restaurant that your lady has never experienced before. FRANCHISE RESTAURANTS ARE OUT OF THE QUESTION, NO RED LOBSTER, NO OLIVE GARDEN.

A balanced breakfast?

Is what I consider a balanced breakfast a healthy meal at all, I mean we have egg whites and pork bacon (what they didn't have turkey) amazing fruit and sliced avocado... I call it balanced, my mom calls it greed. Lets keep in mind that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, what do you consider a balanced breakfast meal. By the way I was not able to finish all of the food. : )

The Opportunities are Endless

Last week I was away from you all for a few days taking care of business, dream chasing "if you will", and I learned one thing that OPPORTUNITIES ARE ENDLESS. As my partners and I walked into B.E.T studio's to have a meeting regarding our latest project I had bubbles in my stomach. So many thoughts flew through my head, what if they don't like it, omg what if they love it. At that very moment I convinced myself that if B.E.T did not enjoy the project another network would and if B.E.T loved the project then we would progress forward, but either way OPPORTUNITIES WERE ENDLESS. Needless to say that meeting was the start of our future it was a great networking opportunity and it finalized that one thought we had "IS THERE ROOM IN THIS INDUSTRY FOR US" and the answer to that was HELL YEAH...

When I received a message via facebook stating that one of my schoolmates from college had just released a book, I was super impressed. I remember meeting this young lady for the first time. She was a year or two younger than myself and after getting into an altercation on campus, she was advised by the dean to join my big sister mentoring program. That same young lady stands before me today an author...

Sha-Shana Reid describes herself... I am Sha-Shana, a twenty-six year old graduate of Pennsylvania’s Lincoln University. As a nurturing Jamaican’s last born of two girls, I realized at an early age, that I enjoyed the togetherness of family and the idea of individuals representing separate links to one chain. Early age also introduced to me a very creative bone that supported me through both elementary and high schools. Throughout these years, I wrote hundreds of poems and found myself developing a true relationship with the art in expression through the use of words. Today, I am an author who is able to do just that.



Her newly released novel WET BROWN BREAD is based on a girl who finds out that her life is the product of a brutal rape. With time, Sad discovers more and more about herself and the people around her, the connections between them and their place in her past. She is emotionally detached from herself and allows her father to invade the most delicate parts of her. With life in an orphanage as her only foundation, Sad finds it difficult to stray away from unhealthy ways of living and all that provides her with constancy. So, she makes decisions that best fit her survival needs.

He is back at it again with a film based on the novel PUSH... The film features comedian/actress Monique and singer/actress Mariah Carey. A kid at heart

On Friday my mother asked me to accompany her while she took several of the girls on her cheerleading team ICE SKATING. Let me quickly add that I am not one for athletic activities, sure I love to watch a good game but when your asking for involvement I'm out of there. At any rate I decided to join the girls. Needless to say it was wonderful watching these girls enjoy themselves. Yes watch, I did not even attempt to get on the ice. Some of the girls were really good at Ice Skating and others well you be the judge.

On Saturday I went to my girlfriend's baby shower and I found a few MUST DO's...

Must Do #1 Gifts bags, thank God we are stepping away from those home made, baby shower souvenirs. Gift bags add an element of surprise and class. Inside these gift bags I found a mug that dated the day of the shower, very cute. To make your mug a bit more unique add something in the mug, like candy...


Must Do #2 People are really impressed with the new phenomenon of cupcakes, check out this cup cake tree found at the shower, all of the cupcakes followed the color theme and looked just like small flowers. Extremely elegant I Loved It...
