On Tuesday night my sister Shyah and I took our little brother Anton to the Power House Concert to celebrate his birthday, As we approached the arena I was surprised to see a predominately white crowd of teenagers wearing T-Shirts that read "WEZZY F. PLEASE SAY THE BABY". The show was held at the Izod Center in New Jersey the one thing I love about this arena is any seat is a good seat, well with the exception of the few 100 ppl that were seated directly behind the stage. The lights went out and DJ Kid Capri introduced the first act promptly at 7:30pm...
D Block approached the stage in classic "Wild Out" tradition with an entourage of about 20, The Lox and peers performed so many hits that it makes one wonder how these same guys were the opening act at Summer Jam 95. They got the crowd hype with hits like "Benjamin's", and solo hits such as "Blow Your Mind". Things were just about to get interesting when Jada said "before we get out of here I want to bring my man to the stage, he's been in the game for a while" and his mic got cut off... LOL I wonder who that could have been, maybe slim from 112? I guess we will never know.
Slim was back stage for sure lol photo SLIM, ED L OVER, FREE, AND BLEEK
Next up to bat was Neyo, I must say that Neyo held his own, this being a hip hop concert Neyo seemed to fit right in, He brought along the likes of Jada Kiss, Plies and my personal favorite Fabolous....
Ed Lover and Free formerly of 106 & Park came out to introduce LIL WAYNE, might I add that Free should invest in some diet pills or a membership at a local gym, because she is one honey bun away from well ya'll get the point... It was painfully obvious that majority of the crowd was there to see Lil Wayne. He approached the stage and received a standing ovation before he even said a word. I'm convinced that Lil Wayne's portion of the show was a rock concert due to the electric guitar that he pretended to be playing the entire set. I didn't understand half of the lyrics but judging by the crowd response and the robe and towel that was placed on him after his set it was a KNOCK OUT performance.
DJ Clue introduced the final Act, Jay-Z, Shawn Corey Carter, Hova the God, Jigga (I think Jay has just as many names as Diddy). Anyway I have this saying "if you've seen one Jay Z concert you've seen them all." But on this night Jay had something in store for us, there would be no special guest, No Freeway, No Mary, No State Property, Just Jay, D.J. AM, a little bit of Bleek, Lots of OBAMA, a dash of Bey, and a F*$# BUSH, yep a FUCK BUSH... Before Jay told us to vote for Obama, he told us why he was standing for CHANGE, he performed the 3rd verse of Blue Magic, "Push Money Over Broads, You Got It F*$# BUSH,
Yes sir Jay used that good ol' Summer Jam tactic, and put Bush in his place... He followed that with a photo of our next President Barack Obama and encourage all to go out and vote on Election Day this coming Tuesday Nov. 4th, 2008
Jay Closed his show with one special guest for the ladies, HIS LADY...
Beyonce graced the stage to inspire all the single ladies, and she let the fellas know if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it... AS JAY DID...
Overall I gave the show an 8, had to take off too points for all the weed smoke in the air...
